Addressing healthy settings in Malawi

Household surveys

January 2014 was a busy month for the SCHI team. Along with a team of data collectors and academic colleagues from the Malawi Polytechnic, the group of 12 headed to the East Bank to conduct an intensive household survey for the programme baseline. The household survey not only provides us with a detailed concept of household details for our baseline, but also provides us with data essential to identifying the priorities and communities within the villages. Over 600 household questionnaires were completed in both the SCHI project catchment area and a control area around Maperera Health Facility to allow comparisons on impact later in the programme. Data is now being collated for analysis and a full report of finding will be combined with other assessment tools to identify community priorities and allow them to develop action plans.
